Humane Education:

SafeHaven's Humane Education program promotes compassion, respect, responsibility and care for ALL animals. Through a variety of programs, we help children and adults strengthen the human-animal bond.

Oregon State Statute requires that schools provide instruction on the humane treatment of animals (ORS 336.067) SafeHaven Humane Society assist schools in meeting this mandate by offering humane education programs at no charge.

Our education program provides age appropriate curriculum, materials and service opportunities for youth thoughout the region.

-Promotes pet health and responsive care
-Prevents pet overpopulaton
-Solves behavior challenges so pets stay in their homes, not shelters

Classroom Visits
SafeHaven offers a variety of Classroom programs for teachers to choose from. Animal visitors are available upon request with the classroom visits. Classroom visits provide an excellet opportunity for children to learn about animals and the world of animal rescue!

Shelter Tours
Youth groups, church groups, scouting groups and classrooms can go behind the scenes for an educational experience. Groups will learn how SafeHaven cares for stray, surrendered and neglected animals in our community.

KIND News
SafeHaven sponsors over 60 classrooms throughout Linn County to receive KIND News newsletters each school year. KIND News is an educational publication for grades K - 6th that places an emphasis on good character in children, kindness towards animals, respect for natural habitats, good citizenship, and peaceful conflict resolution. Pet's & Pal's Club
It is time to sign up for this years Pets & Pals Club! SafeHaven's Pets & Pals Club is open to youth grades 1st -6th.We will meet once a month (usually on Wednesday)to learn about animals, how to be a responsible pet owners, do art and crafts, and have fun! There are also volunteer days and field trips for club members to participate in, to learn how to become community leaders. Space is limited so sign up now!
